This center functions as an intense outpatient facility. Patients are referred by their primary care physician. Patients have personalized treatment plans which may include a nutritionist, counselor, and/or group therapy.

Clara Martin Centers
These centers primarily address drug and alcohol abuse. They can, however, act as a referral service for patients with eating disorders as well. The Clara Martin Centers are located in Wilder, Randolph, and Bradford Vermont.
National Resources
Academy for Eating Disorders (AED)
The AED is an organization of health care professionals, primarily psychiatrists, whose activities promote communication and the best evidence-based treatment of eating disorders . The site defines the group as “An international transdisciplinary professional organization that promotes excellence in research, treatment and prevention of eating disorders. The AED provides education, training and a forum for collaboration and professional dialogue.”
International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP)
As defined on the website, the mission of this organization is to promote professionalism among practitioners who treat those suffering from eating disorders by emphasizing ethical and professional standards, offering education and training in the field, and certifying those who have met prescribed requirements. It also promotes public awareness of eating disorders and assists in prevention efforts.
Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating Disorders, Inc (ANRED)
This non-profit corporation, funded by donations, is maintained by physicians, researchers, and nurses. The site provides information resources on anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorders, and other less well-known eating disorders. The site includes definitions, warning signs, statistics, reasons for the development of eating disorders, recovery, prevention, and much more.
Eating Disorders Referral and Information Center
The website of Eating Disorders Referral and Information Center is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders. The site is characterized by a series of buttons which facilitates the user’s easy access to topics related to eating disorders such as obesity, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, body image, athletes and eating disorders, prevention, and consequences.
Gurze Books
Gurze Books is a publishing company that has specialized in resources and education on eating disorders since 1980. It is owned and operated by Lindsey Hall and Leigh Cohn, authors of several books in the field. Gurze Books was started with a book describing Lindsey’s personal story of recovery and has expanded to include many other books. In addition, the site publishes several journals and an email newsletter, a directory of treatment facilities, and links to related organizations on the topic of eating disorders.
National Center for Overcoming Overeating
The National Center for Overcoming Overeating is an educational and training organization working to end body hatred and dieting. It was started in 1989 by Carol Munter and Janme Hirschmann, authors of Overcoming Overeating and When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies. Jane is also the co-author of Preventing Child Eating Problems. The site includes information related to overeating, a newsletter, personal stories, e-mail discussion groups, therapist lists, and links to related sites.
National Eating Disorder Information Centre
The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) is a non-profit organization which provides resources on eating disorders and other topics as they relate to food and weight preoccupation. NEDIC also staffs a helpline, runs prevention campaigns, assists communities on the topic of food and weight preoccupation, and runs workshops and presentations for schools and communities. The site is funded by the government of Ontario and supported administratively by the Toronto General Hospital Eating Disorder Program.
National Eating Disorders Association
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest not-for-profit organization in the United States working to prevent eating disorders and provide treatment referrals to those suffering from anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, and those concerned with body image and weight issues. NEDA is dedicated to expanding public understanding of eating disorders and promoting access to quality treatment for those affected along with support for their families through education, advocacy and research. NEDA has a professional board of directors composed of physicians, social workers, and research doctorates. It provides an information and referral helpline. It has publications for grades 4-6 and 9-12 that nurture healthy eating and healthy body image. It also sponsors a national eating disorders awareness week.
Something Fishy Organization
This site, created by a husband and wife team, is dedicated to providing information on issues related to eating disorders. The web site supports several monitored online chats and bulletin boards. One of the main features of the site is a focus on recovery, and includes sections on mental health, negative voices, self-perception, and phobias. The site also includes links to a recovery tool box, information on various types of treatment, and self-help books. The site provides a low key interface that might be appealing to teenagers.
