Resources for Succeeding in the Publication Process

Writing an article for publication can be daunting for any author. February's Library Grand Rounds focused on strategies to make it through the publication process successfully and highlighted some tools and library information resources and services that help streamline the process.

H. Gilbert Welch, MD, MPH (Professor of Medicine and of Community and Family Medicine, and former editor of Effective Clinical Practice), described a systematic approach to writing the manuscript. He also gave practical tips on how to prepare a readable manuscript.

Dartmouth Biomedical Librarians Pamela Bagley, PhD, MLS, and Heather Blunt, MSLS, outlined how the Biomedical Libraries can help you in the publication process. Pamela and Heather discussed ways to identify research ideas, how to conduct a thorough literature review, how to decide where to submit your paper, and using software such as EndNote to organize and format your publication's reference citations.

Library Grand Rounds are a forum for presenting information resources and tools of interest to Dartmouth clinicians. Please contact Karen Odato, the Libraries' Education Coordinator, if you have questions, comments or suggestions for future Library Grand Rounds.
