Evidence-Based Medicine Resources for Clinicians
November 19, 1998

The Biomedical Libraries are pleased to introduce Library Grand Rounds, a new forum for presenting information resources and tools of interest to Dartmouth clinicians. Our first Library Grand Rounds focused on evidence-based medicine, the "conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients" (Sackett, DL. BMJ. 1996 Jan 13;312(7023):71-2).

Blair Brooks, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, gave a brief presentation about the concept and application of evidence-based medicine.

Connie Rinaldo, Head of Collection Services for the Biomedical Libraries (through August 1999), introduced and demonstrated "Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews," a new information resource for Dartmouth's OVID system that supports the application of evidence-based medicine.

"Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews" (EBMR) brings together the Cochrane Collaboration's "Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews" and "Best Evidence" (containing "ACP Journal Club" and "Evidence-Based Medicine" from the American College of Physicians/the BMJ Publishing Group).
