Paper Assignment


Write a 15-20 page research paper on a topic of your choice. Your final draft must be typed, double-spaced, and in a 10 or 12 point font. You must use at least five primary sources in your paper. Papers must include a complete set of references and citations as outlined in the Sources handbook (www.dartmouth.edu/~sources).

Topics
Chose any topic concerning some aspect of the history of genetics. Your paper should make a clear claim and that claim must be supported with evidence.


PROPOSALS
You must submit a proposal detailing your claim and research plan by October 16, 2005 at 2pm. Proposals should be one page in length with a bibliography on a second page. Proposals should be typed, double-spaced, and in a 10 or 12 point font. Your proposal is worth 5% of your course grade.


DRAFTS
You must submit TWO COPIES a complete draft of your paper including citations by Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 at 2pm.


CRITIQUE
On November 20th you will receive a draft from another student to read and critique. Guidelines will be provided. You must provide TWO copies of your written critique on Tuesday, November 29th, 2007 at 2pm.
Your draft and critique are worth 10% of your course grade.


FINAL DRAFT
Due on December 4, 2007 by 2pm.
Your final draft is worth 15% of your course grade.

 

LATE ASSIGNMENTS:
Anything handed in late will be marked down one letter grade per day late, unless you have an excuse that has been approved in advance.
