To reach China by phone:
1. Dial 011; this is the US exit code and must be used first for any international calls.
2. Dial 86; this is China's country code
3. Dial the area code and then number provided in the Students and Staff Page
For Example: If a student's Beijing Normal University phone number is 555-555-5555, you would need to dial 011-86-555-555-5555.
Mao Laoshi recommends Pennytalk for international calls.
Skype is a commonly used program on the FSP that can be used to make international calls and can also be used to talk to students for free over the internet. For more information, visit Skype.com. Some students have also used common messenger programs such as AIM and Windows Messenger.
To reach China by mail:
Check with your local post office to see if special customs forms are needed, then follow normal mailing procedures. You will need to have the Chinese address below on the package.
