Tucker Foundation - Come to the BB/BS Toy Chest, where you can find a Nerf soccer ball, beach balls, baseball gloves and balls, wiffle balls and bat, and other toys. Great for playing on the Green!

Berry Sports Center - Generally open from 1 pm - 11 pm during the week and 10 am - 9 pm on weekends. There is a lot of stuff for you and your little sibling to do here, especially if your little sibling is athletic and likes learning new sports.

Recreational Equipment Office - A wide assortment of sports equipment is available for free rental to Dartmouth students with the use of your ID. Items to rent include: basketballs, volleyballs, tennis/racquetball/squash racquets and balls, eye guards, table tennis paddles and balls, softball bats/balls, lacrosse sticks/balls, and much more! Teach your little sibling to play a sport or learn together. For the availability of basketball, squash or racquetball courts it is best to call ahead or check blitzmail bulletins under "Athletic Facilities."

Swimming-Indoor

Alumni Gym - You and your little sibling can go swimming for free any time of the year in the gym.
Hours: Children & teens: Monday - Friday 7:30 pm - 9 pm, Sat and Sun 3 pm - 5 pm.
These times may change from term to term so it is always best to check the "Athletic Facilities" blitzmail bulletin before going.

Carter-Witherell Center - Located in Lebanon NH. Contains whirlpool, saunas and an olympic-sized pool with diving boards.
Hours : Monday-Friday 6am - 9:15 pm Saturday 8 am - 9:15 pm Sunday noon-4:45 pm.

Swimming - Outdoor

Swim Dock located between the Crew house and the Ledyard Bridge - During the warmer months, take your little sibling swimming for free on the Connecticut River. You can go swimming here after canoeing or kayaking on the river. Be sure to swim when the lifeguard is on duty.

Storrs Pond Recreation Area - Olympic-sized pool and pond with great beaches. This great place is open from June through Labor Day. This place can get fairly crowded so you might want to call to find out when the best time tome to go is.

Tennis and Other Racquet Sports

Berry Sports Center - Racquetball and squash courts available for students to play on for free. You can get the equipment at the equipment office.

Dartmouth Tennis Courts - 19 outdoor courts and 4 clay courts. These are $1 per person. It might be fun if you and your little sibling have never played on clay to try these courts during the warmer months. Also available - 4 indoor courts in Leverone which are also $1 per person.

Storrs Pond Recreation Area - 4 tennis courts are available here. $4 per adult. For further information (phone and hours of operation) look at "Outdoor Swimming" above.

Skating

Thompson Arena - The artificial ice is installed in mid-October and is removed in mid-March. The hours for recreational skating vary monthly so it is best to check the Athletic Facilities bulletin on Blitzmail before going over to skate.
Admission: Dartmouth students $1. Children $2.
Thompson Arena does NOT rent skates.

Occom Pond - Outdoor skating and recreational hockey. There is also occasional night skating here, weather permitting. A great place for you and your little sibling to go skating as there is no charge for admission. Skate rental is available here. For hours and information about whether it is safe to skate here, call Safety and Security at 646-2234 or Dartmouth Buildings and Grounds at 646-2485. Hartford Indoor Skating Rink - Tarp-covered rink in White River Junction. Public skating daily. Call to find out about schedule as it is subject to change.

James W. Campion III Rinks - An indoor facility located in West Lebanon. No skate rental available at this location. Call to find out schedule.

Admission - $2 per person. Location - one mile south of Hanover on Rte. 10.

Skiing

Dartmouth Skiway - Located in Lyme. 2 chair lifts available plus a beginning slope if you are teaching your little sib to ski (or if s/he is teaching you!) During Winter Carnival there is a $.99 ski day so you can take that opportunity to go skiing with your little sibling.

Whaleback - Located in Lebanon, about a 15 minute drive. 1 chair lift and 11 trails. The only local area where you can go night skiing with your little sibling.

NOTE: If our little sibling is from Lyme he/she skies for free at some of the local areas. Call the Lyme school system to find out how this works.

Other Sporting Activities

Cross-Country Skiing - Go cross-country skiing with your little sibling on the golf course or ask your little sibling for other great spots.

Sledding - A great spot is on the golf course, but Im sure your little sibling knows a lot of good spots in his or her area.

Golfing - The Hanover Golf Course has four practice holes that you and your little sibling can golf on for free. A good idea for older siblings who are interested in learning to play golf.

Intercollegiate Athletics - Take your little sibling to see the Big Green in competition. If you are involved in a sport, invite your little siblings family to come watch. If the tickets are required for any of the games, your little sibling can go free. Just come to the Tucker Foundation to get a form which can be redeemed for your sib's free ticket.

Play catch, throw a frisbee, toss a football around, play lacrosse, show your little sibling how to play any sport you like. It would probably be a great experience for him/her.
