Make sure to check out the books at the Tucker Foundation. These belong to the Book Buddy Program, but BB/BS are welcome to them as long as you follow the proper check-out procedures. Please make sure to bring these books back as they are one of the few resources we have at the Tucker Foundation. If these are lost we will lose the privilege of sharing these resources with Book Buddies. Encouraging reading is one of the best things you can do for your little sibling. Many of these kids' parents don't have time to read to them at home, and they may be behind the rest of their classmates in their reading abilities. Reading well will make learning exciting and something your little sibling will look forward to. Ask your little sibling to read signs as you walk down the street, plaques under museum paintings, newspapers, magazines, books, anything you can get a hold of. Make your little sibling familiar with his/her community library. Show him/her how to check out a book. This may mean starting an account under your little sibling's name. Having a library card may be really exciting for him/her. Following is a list of some libraries around the area. Most of these have childrens' rooms. Hanover Library - Within walking distance of campus. Gates Memorial Library - White River Junction, VT. Call (802) 295-7402 for hours. Lebanon Library - 9E Park, Lebanon NH. Call (603) 448-7402 for hours. West Lebanon Library - Main Street, West Lebanon NH. Call (603) 298-8544 for hours. Thetford Library - Thetford Hill, Thetford VT. Call (802) 785-4361 for hours. |
