As a sisterhood, it is very meaningful to share our time to better the world beyond ourselves. Although we have a requirement of two hours per sister per term, most sisters complete well beyond this: we are consistently one of the most involved Greek houses on campus.

As a national organization, Alpha Xi Delta believes that children should be given the chance to develop to their fullest potential - intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. As a chapter, we have adopted the national motto, "Choose Children." In this vein, we have an adopted a Girl Scout troop. In the winter, we help them with their cookie sale, and in the spring we volunteer at their activity center. The girls in our current troop are now 12 years old and we are looking into adopting another, younger troop this winter.

Every term, we help with the Students Fighting Hunger dinner at the Edgerton House and the campus Red Cross blood drive. Other seasonal service projects include the winter Occum Pond party, winter teddy bear collection drive, and fall SEAD dinner.

This past fall, sisters' contributions centered around the campus-wide KatrinaHelp hurricane relief effort and the Asia Relief project to help victims of the recent earthquake in Pakistan. Through tabling for donations, selling raffle tickets, running toy drives, and working at rummage sales, we were a noticeable force behind the college volunteer effort!
