The engineers and the Wallops
team have arrived at the launch site (Ny Alesund,
on the west coast of Svalbard.) However, there
have been some difficulties with shipping, and
the payload and equipment are still stuck in Oslo.
Also, the original shipment of rocket motors
got stuck in the ice not far from Ny Alesund, and
froze, so new motors need to be shipped from
Wallops. These difficulties will delay the start
of the launch window from 15 Jan by at least
a few days.
In the picture, the Cornell engineers view
their large but at present empty workspace...
Reports are that at least there's lots of
nice aurora to watch.
