For what reasons are you interested in being on Student Assembly?

Feel free to share what you find appealing or beneficial, but also any apprehensions or concerns.

 

What are your other extra-curricular commitments outside of classes?
For example, work, teams, societies and other affiliations. There can never be too many or too few. We just would like to know what other facets of campus you are involved in.

 

Which of the following best characterizes the capacity and extent that you would at this point prefer to be involved in the Assembly?
There are many ways and degrees to which one can contribute to the Assembly, all of which are important to creating an effective representative body,and we want to know what is best for you.

 

Substantial time commitment -- high priority
Regular participation on projects -- moderate priority
Involvement in one (or more) specific projects of interests -- varying priority
Attendance at meetings to give input, present a perspective -- contributor

What types of issues and projects interest you most?
Below is a list of the six standing Assembly committees along with some of the projects that they've worked on in the past. Please order them from 1 to 6 (with 1 as your first choice).

Academic Affairs: deals with issues relating to the Dartmouth academic experience, curriculum, courses, or faculty. Projects have included tenure, course guide, the NRO, ethnic studies and more. Currently, the committee is planning the launch of a major Undergraduate Teaching Initiative.

Administration and Faculty Relations: coordinates interaction with the administration and faculty, and tries to foster a strong relationship on a continual basis. Projects have included liaisons to administrators, lunches with administrators and faculty, trustee relations, faculty awards and more.

Communications: responsible for publicity of Assembly initiatives as well as gathering feedback from the student body. Regular projects include press releases, informational packets, poster design, SA newsletters, working with The Dartmouth and more.

Student Life: advocates for changes in the policies of the College, particularly issues related to social, residential and cultural life on campus. Projects have included dining, parking, alcohol policy, cable, printing policy, student rights, fines, student space and more.

Student Organizations: works to increase communication with and between student groups on campus and to address the specific issues and concerns they raise. Projects have included update of cultural events, co-sponsorship bulletin, community dinners, running events and more.

Student Services: seeks to enhance day-to-day campus life, particularly with projects the Assembly can accomplish with primarily its own resources. Projects have included Mugshots, blitz computers, Big Green Bikes, book exchange, student advantage cards and more.
