Mission Statement

The Dartmouth Asian Organization's mission is to focus on the Asians in America experience. Whether American-born or international, we as students at Dartmouth are all affected by American culture in our daily lives.

DAO endeavors to:

DAO welcomes all Dartmouth students interested in issues pertinent to both Asians/Asian Americans as its members. With our programming, we strive to organize educational forums and discussions that challenge and educate, and events that proudly showcase the numerous cultures represented within our organization.

As a reputable group with a cogent history of quality programming and prudent activism, we have the potential and privilege to make our mark on Dartmouth. Our past events have included a street-fair-style Harvest Festival, semi-formals for those who enjoy a classy night out, a large annual Culture Night show showcasing the diversity on campus, and an award-winning Asian American Film Festival in the Loew.

DAO's past achievements can be attributed in whole to the dedicated and talented student minds that run it. Now, we welcome YOU, the '09 freshman class, to share your voice, your sentiments, and your vision. After all, this is your DAO.

DAO is partnered with the Korean-American Students Association (KASA), Milan (South-Asian Society), Dartmouth Chinese Culture Society (DCCS), Dartmouth Japanese Society (DJS), and the Pan Asian Council.

Membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at Dartmouth and other members of the Dartmouth community, regardless of race, gender, sex, orientation, creed, or national origin.
