The Department of Art History's Visual Resource Center is one of the earliest academic image collections in the United States. It began in the late 19th century as a collection of lantern slides and study photographs of works of art and architecture. - more history
The Visual Resource Center consists of approximately 350,000 slides, and a growing collection of digital images. The collection is available to Dartmouth faculty members for use in their on-campus lectures.
