CT: Axial heart

This image shows an axial view of the heart. Here is a reference PA chest film showing the approximate level of this slice, and here is a comparable image from the Visible man. As in all axial (transverse) images, the patient is lying supine and you are observing from the patient's feet up. The imaging of tissue densities follows the same general principles as for conventional X-ray images.
