MRI: Coronal orbit  
 

This image is a T1-weighted MRI in the coronal plane just deep (posterior) to the globe (eyeball). The extrinsic eye muscles, optic nerve, and superior opthalmic vein can be seen well in this image. Fat is bright, and muscles and nerves are gray. Vessels appear darkest in this image.

2. medial rectus

3. inferior rectus

4. lateral rectus

5. superior rectus

6. levator palpebrae superioris

7. superior oblique

8. superior ophthalmic vein

9. retroorbital fat

10. ethmoid air cells

11. nasal conchae

12. maxillary sinus
