Where the Money Goes

It provides financial aid for students who otherwise couldn't afford a Dartmouth education.

FACT: Admission to Dartmouth is need-blind. In 2006-07, 57 percent of Dartmouth undergraduate students received some form of financial aid. (source: http://www.dartmouth.edu/home/about/facts.html#undergrad)

It supports the Hop, the Hood, and Dartmouth's nine libraries, providing a culturally enriched environment for student learning and interaction.

FACT: Dartmouth's "open stack" libraries provide local access to 2.5 million volumes, 21,000 periodicals, 6 million manuscript pages, 2.3 million microforms, 67,000 audiovisual titles, and 164,000 maps. The Digital Library at Dartmouth is the gateway to more than 30,000 e-journals, 100,000 e-books, and 800 research databases. (source: http://library.dartmouth.edu/)

It fosters the unique relationship between faculty and students. Twenty-five percent of DCF funds support faculty salaries and small class sizes.

FACT: 98 percent of students are satisfied with the out-of-class availability of faculty. (source: http://ask.dartmouth.edu/categories/stulife/09.html)

It supports campus safety.

FACT: Last year Safety and Security answered over 96,000 calls. Dartmouth has an emergency management committee, which meets regularly to discuss campus preparedness. Safety and Security has emergency protocols in place, as do specific departments, in the event of a campus emergency. (source: Tuck Report and http://ask.dartmouth.edu/categories/stulife/12.html)

And so much more.

FACT: 1 out of 10 dollars in Dartmouth's annual budget comes directly from alumni gifts like yours. Annual giving supports every aspect of College life, from the close faculty-student interaction in and out of the classroom to the bonding of first-year students on top of Moosilauke. Your gift makes a difference. (source: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~alfund/whygive/bythe_numbers.html)
