About the Banner:
The “Life of Malcolm X” murals were painted by Florian Jenkins in 1972. The eight panels depict the life and assassination of the human rights activist. The murals were sponsored by the Afro-American Society and are located in Cutter-Shabazz Hall.
The S. Jay Walker Memorial Reading Room was named in honor of Professor S. Jay Walker, who
was Chair of the Black Studies Program from 1972-1977 and a Professor in the English Department. The Reading Room is located on the first floor of the Choate House and is open for student and faculty use. It is also available for small group meetings. Contact the AAAS Program Office at 646-3397 for information about reserving this room and also about accessing the online catalog of Reading Room holdings.
The Seminar Room is located on the second floor of the Choate House. It is available for classes
