Want to be a Study Group Leader?
Study group leaders are those students who have excelled in their academics
(as signified by receiving an A or A- in the course content). Many are
recommended by their professors. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a
willingness to help other students, and the ability to communicate the material
well. Frequently potential study group leaders will have tutored individual
students in the subject or have other tutoring experience. The time commitment
to become a study group leader is 1.5 hours a week, plus the occasional
pre-exam review session.
To become a study group leader, either come to the Academic Skills Center
and fill out the Study Group Leader Contract and Update forms
or fill them out using the links below and blitz them to "ASC".
For Study Group Leaders:
Want to be a Tutor?
The Academic Skills Center constantly seeks talented and interested students
to serve as individual tutors or study group leaders. If you have received an A
or A- in any of your classes and would like to participate in a valuable
learning opportunity, please stop by the Academic Skills Center to complete an
application. Students considering becoming a tutor should plan to commit a
minimum of three hours per week per tutee.
Students who hold a F-1 or J-1 visa must identify themselves so that the
Tutor Clearinghouse can make assignments that are in keeping with the
regulations governing authorized employment options.
Tutor Training sessions are offered four times at the beginning of each
term. Students who wish to become tutors or study group leaders should plan to
attend one of these sessions early on so that they are adequately prepared for
their assignments.
If you wish to become a member of the Tutor Clearinghouse staff, please
investigate this opportunity further by either coming to the Academic Skills
Center (third floor of the Collis Center) or by going to the following
links to complete the appropriate paperwork and submitting it to us via e-mail
(blitz "ASC").
