Cal Newport

Cal, a 2004 graduate of Dartmouth College, is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at MIT. He is the author of two successful books for driven college students, How to Become a Straight-A Student and How to Win at College. He has appeared on numerous television shows and radio programs, and his advice has been published in many major publications. His website features information and excerpts from his books, as well as selected articles and a link to his award-winning blog, Study Hacks.

Study Hacks

Study Hacks was founded by Cal Newport '04 in the summer of 2007. The blog, based on Cal's two academic success books, How to Become a Straight-A Student and How to Win at College, presents many of Cal's strategies for success in college and making the most of the college experience. "Getting Things Done" (David Allen)

Getting Things Done is a life-work management system developed by David Allen. His system aims to help businesspeople manage committments and improve productivity, but it can be applied to the lives of college students as well. This link is a video of a presentation that Mr. Allen gave at Google on Getting Things Done.
