Sample D-plans for Different Seasons

One of the greatest assets of the D-plan is that it enables student-athletes to participate in Language Study Abroad programs as well as Foreign Study Programs and exchange terms. As a student-athlete, although your D-plan may be dictated by the terms you need to be on campus for competing in your sport, if you want to take advantage of an LSA, FSP or exchange term, there are many ways to make this happen. The following pages illustrate typical D-plan options for athletes depending on term of competition. Keep in mind that if one of these models does not represent your interests, you can work with the Academic Counselor or class dean to find a plan that works best for you.

Student-athletes who compete fall, winter and spring terms (i.e. cross country and track) may petition to be exempt from the Sophomore Summer requirement. To do this, students must complete a form in the Registrar's Office (basement of McNutt) by the winter term of their sophomore year.
