AAM History

The Afro-American Society (AAM) was founded in 1969 as a means to improve the academic excellence of Black students on campus.  Since then it has developed into a dynamic organization dedicated to:

  • Maintaining a political and social voice for communities of the African Diaspora at Dartmouth College
  • Promoting cultural, educational, and public awareness
  • Enhancing the relationship and understandings among all students, faculty, staff, and Black Alumni of Dartmouth College;
  • Unifying the diverse members of the ever changing, ever expanding Dartmouth community.

Location

While the Cutter/Shabazz Center for Intellectual Inquiry is an Academic Affinity House for students, it also houses the Afro-American Society office and space for our General Body Meetings and programming.
