MLK Celebration and Haiti Relief Efforts

Where do We Go from Here?  Leading for Change.

In light of this year’s MLK Celebration Theme please keep Haiti in your thoughts and prayers.  The Afro-American Society will be joining the campus-wide push to raise awareness and funds for Haitian Relief.  Please let us know if you would like to be involved or if you or your family need assistance in any way.  The AAm Community is strong- let’s band together and support each other in this time of tragedy.

The MLK Celebration Kicks off tonight.  Below is how you can get involved in the next few days.

As most of you know, today, January 15th is Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday.  We hope that you take some time today to honor his legacy. Just stop and think of how far we have come and how far we still have left to go, but remember that it is our right to speak up and not be complacent about anything happening around us.

Part of Dr. King’s legacy is that he fought for justice and equality, not only racial equalty, but also class equality.
For your information, today from 11:30am  to 1:00pm you can join your fellow Faculty, Students, Staff and SEIU Union members for a Protest in front of the Hopkins Center.  College employees are part of the Dartmouth Experience too!

In addition to the labor union protest, there are a number of MLK celebration events occring in the next couple of weeks.  We encourage you all to remember and celebrate an activist, a leader, a man who fought for our civil rights.

Things to look forward to in the next few days:
