Kappa Delta Epsilon is a local sorority founded in the fall of 1993. After the dissolution of the Xi Kappa Chi local sorority in the spring of 1993, the Panhellenic Council decided that there was a need for a new sorority to replace it. Fifty women joined the new sorority in the first rush in the fall of 1993

As a local sorority, KDE is able to choose philanthropy projects within the interests of our sisters. This coming year, we have decided to pair up with Ledyard Charter School, a local charter school that provides individual learning opportunities for local students who have not been able to thrive in other high schools.  KDE has been involved at LCS through mentoring, tutoring, and fundraising through art shows.

In addition to our ongoing partnership with LCS, every summer KDE works extremely hard to get 100% participation in the Prouty that benefits the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.  Last summer, KDE won the "Iron Butt Award" for having the most participation of all Greek houses in the 100 mile bicycle race.  While some of our sisters were sweating it out on the road, others volunteered at water stations and administration tents or participated in the other races.  We also organized a car-wash and bake sale to raise money for the cause.

More information about us

Kappa Delta Epsilon is a powerful female collective that is uniquely positioned to make a positive impact. As a local sorority, we take ownership over our unique social space and set the terms for how we socialize. As a unified sisterhood, we promote individual and collective growth across all endeavors and the six principles of Greek Life. As a network of campus leaders, we are a driving force for social change, bridging tradition with modernity. And as women, we seek to advance gender issues, including women’s wellness and leadership. Our motto, “freedom lies in being bold,” is the common thread that empowers us to act with courage, passion and responsibility, within our sorority and beyond. By working together actively and respectfully, we strive to elevate Dartmouth College and Kappa Delta Epsilon, and to ensure their joint success for years to come.

We do many of things as a sisterhood to foster relationships within the house, challenge each other and support one another.  KDE strives to highlight the diverse passions of individual sisters in all of our activities.  Our sisterhood events include weekly sisterhood dinners at the house, trips to Ice Cream Fore-U, sunrise and sunset hikes, paint-balling, pottery painting, Easter egg hunts, Moosilauke Lodge dinners, overnight cabin camping, and canoeing to Gilman Island. Outside of scheduled events our sisters make sure to support each other on the field, on the stage, and with other initiatives and activities across campus.
