History Beta was originally founded in 1858 at Dartmouth College as a local fraternity named Sigma Delta Pi. Sigma Delta Pi was the seventh fraternity founded at the College. In 1889, the local brotherhood decided to join a national fraternity and the organization soon became the Alpha Omega chapter of Beta Theta Pi. The chapter built a house (now South Fairbanks Hall) in 1904, and it built its second house, on Webster Avenue, in 1933. In the fall of 2008 Beta Alpha Omega re-organized as a local fraternity.
Philanthropy Beta has begun and maintained a strong relationship with the UV Haven homeless shelter, with beta members cooking and serving a meal to shelter residents every month during the school year. Additionally, fundraising efforts for local charities such as the Norris Cotton cancer center, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), the WISE center and the Upper Valley Haven shelter continue to be successful and fruitful for both fraternity members and the charities.
A little bit of information about us Today, Beta Alpha Omega at Dartmouth College continues to occupy the second plot at 6 Webster, drawing in a diverse new class each year from all corners of campus. Beta has a commitment to producing men of principle, encouraging honor, leadership, friendship and fidelity among its members.
