South Block, the downtown Hanover redevelopment located along South Street between South Main Street and Currier Place, is celebrating its grand opening! With construction now complete, the community can enjoy the diverse mix of retail, social and housing opportunities that South Block offers.
South Block consists of five mixed-use buildings (residential over retail) in a compact, pedestrian-friendly environment, and contains 23,500 square feet of commercial space, 41 residential units and 108 parking spaces. Four of the five buildings are fully occupied by established, independently-owned merchants, including Hanover True Value Hardware (http://www.truevalue.com/hanover), Systems Plus Computers (www.spci.com), Umpleby's Bakery & Cafe (www.umplebys.com) and Ramunto's Brick & Brew Pizzeria. With the final building at 68 South Main Street now completed, new retail tenants include C. Beston and Company (Interior Furnishings) and The Mountain Goat Outfitters (http://www.mountaingoatnorthampton.com/). Yama Restaurant, an Asian restaurant featuring fine Korean and Japanese Cuisine for in-house dining or take out, will occupy the final retail space when the restaurant construction is completed in December.
