Tragic Loss of a Dartmouth Community Member

To the Dartmouth community,

It is with great sadness that we must inform you that first-year Physics Department graduate student Mikhail Lomakin died in Hartford, Vt., early Saturday morning. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of Mikhail's death.

On behalf of the entire Dartmouth community, we want to express our heartfelt condolences to Mikhail's family and friends.

We are in the process of reaching out to students, faculty, and staff known to be close with Mikhail to offer support.

The death of such a young man is a shock and a loss to the entire Dartmouth community. We urge students and employees who would like to speak to a counselor or a chaplain, on their own behalf or out of concern for someone, to call Safety and Security at 603-646-4000. Safety and Security will connect you with a counselor on duty.
