Plans for implementing RDA in Cataloging and Metadata Services
Plans for implementing RDA in Cataloging and Metadata Services
- Any RDA name headings used in these records will be converted to AACR2 headings by LTI during our monthly AEX process.
- The absence of the GMD in these records is irrelevant for book materials.
- The 33x fields will be retained in the bibliographic record after export, but for the time being will not be displayed in the public catalog. A local solution or a solution from Innovative for expressing the value of these fields in a format intelligible to the public is pending.
- RDA records for non-book formats and RDA records which do not use ISBD will be excluded from the catalog for the time being. Cataloging and Metadata Services will be developing a plan for the use of these RDA records for non-book formats as they continue to proliferate in OCLC.
- Cataloging and Metadata Services staff will undergo special training in order to make edits on RDA/AACR2 “hybrid” records before they can be exported from OCLC.
