Community Service
Community service is a major component of student life at Dartmouth, where more than half of the student body is involved in some form of volunteer work. In the Upper Valley region around Dartmouth, students in Local Service through the Tucker Foundation annually provide 40,000 hours of volunteer service in dozens of outreach projects. Service opportunities through the Tucker Foundation also include numerous national and international leave-term and Alternative Spring Break service programs. Graduate students also participate in these outreach projects as well as those specific to their schools and professional interests.
Dartmouth students and community members gather on the Green to begin the United Way's Day of Caring.
