Other Areas of Study
In addition to Dartmouth’s formal academic departments and programs, there are a number of centers, institutes, and other programs offering a broad array of opportunities for study and research as well as public lectures for the community. Some offer educational programs for students from other colleges or high schools. Local community members can also take courses through specific education programs. See below for more information.
Fellowships for Dartmouth Students and Faculty, and Programs for the Community
- Dickey Center: Provides support for faculty research and teaching in international affairs and offers lectures and other programs to the community
- Rockefeller Center: Academic programs, funding opportunities, leadership development, internships and career opportunties, in areas of the social sciences; also offers lectures and other programs to the community
- Leslie Humanities Center: Fellowships for faculty and students for interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary study and innovation; also offers lectures and other programs to the community
Summer Programs
- 2007 Summer Program for undergraduates: Dartmouth offers students currently attending other undergraduate programs the opportunity to take one, two or three courses during the Summer Term.
- Summer debate programs: The Dartmouth Forensic Union offers a series of programs for high school students and coaches.
- Language programs: Accelerated language learning, community-based programs and other special offerings.
- Department of Computer Science summer robot camp: A hands-on program for Upper Valley youth interested in robotics.
- Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD): A summer program that expands educational opportunities for high school students from selected under-resourced urban and rural schools.
- Research Experience for Undergraduates (Thayer School of Engineering): A nine-week summer program in nanomaterials research for undergraduates.
- Tuck Business Bridge Program (Tuck School of Business): An intensive, career-focused program for juniors, seniors, and recent graduates of arts and sciences colleges focusing on the basics of accounting, marketing, finance, and leadership.
- Tuck Executive Education: Programs that showcase current thinking and innovative ideas in business.
Continuing Education
- ILEAD: The Institute for Lifelong Education Dartmouth, a program of self-administered and peer-taught discussion programs across a variety of topics selected by the membership.
- Alumni Continuing Education and Travel: Programs of travel and education geared to alumni and friends.
- Community Medical School: Spring sessions in Hanover designed to “bring the marvels of medical science and health care to the public.”
- Language programs: Accelerated language learning, community based programs and other special offerings.
