Undergraduate Departments and Programs
Dartmouth’s educational offerings are broad and deep, fostering both intellectual diversity and expertise. The Faculty of Arts & Sciences has more than 40 academic departments and interdisciplinary programs. Undergraduate engineering sciences courses are taught by Thayer School of Engineering faculty; undergraduate business courses are offered through a collaboration between the Arts & Sciences and the Tuck School of Business.

In addition to Dartmouth’s academic departments and programs, there are more than 50 centers, institutes, and programs providing opportunities for study and experience, much of it interdisciplinary. Institutes and Programs with undergraduate fellowships and academic opportunities:
- Off-Campus Programs: Dartmouth offers a variety of opportunities for undergraduate students to study off-campus and earn credit toward their degree, including more than 40 programs in 24 countries covering six continents.
- Undergraduate Research: Opportunities for research, working with Dartmouth faculty or independently
- Scholarship Advising: Fellowships for undergraduates for research, study abroad, and graduate school
- The John Sloan Dickey Center Student Opportunities: Dickey Center programs encourage students to apply knowledge and skills in a variety of international activities both on and off campus. The Center is home to the Institute of Arctic Studies, War and Peace Studies, the Dartmouth Global Health Initiative, and the International Studies minor.
- Ethics Institute: The Ethics Institute exists to serve the needs of the Dartmouth community as well as the larger academic community, through research and dialogue on emerging ethical issues. It coordinates the ethics minor.
- Institute for Writing and Rhetoric (IWR): IWR fosters students’ abilities as writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. Its Writing and Rhetoric Program is the institute’s curricular component, and focuses on Dartmouth’s first-year writing courses.
- Leslie Humanities Center Fellowships and Grants: The Leslie Center provides fellowships and grants for faculty and students for interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary study and innovation.
- William Jewett Tucker Foundation: The Tucker Foundation offers internships, fellowships, cross cultural service trips, and community-based learning courses.
- Rockefeller Center Student Opportunities: The Rockefeller Center offers academic programs, funding opportunities, leadership development, internships, and career opportunities in areas of the social sciences, and houses the public policy minor.
