Once known as Thayer Hall, the Class of 1953 Commons is the center of dining at Dartmouth. The building contains Dartmouth's central dining hall, as well as the Dartmouth Card Office, Sarner Underground, a 24-hour student social space, and the Paganucci Lounge, Dartmouth's board room.
The dining portion of '53 Commons includes 8 distinct stations, each serving a different style of food, ranging from kosher to a meat-free kitchen serving vegetarian and vegan dishes. Our state of the art Wood Stone pizza oven serves up some of the best pizza in the Upper Valley, and there is always a larges selection of fresh breads, pastries and cookies at the Bakery.
'53 Commons offers a complete meal to guests for a single entry fee. '53 Commons is open to members of the Dartmouth community as well as the general public.

Thank you to Grace Young who visited Dartmouth for a second time on Tuesday, October 9th. The award-winning cookbook author and stir fry expert assisted students with the new Do It Yourself Stir Fry in '53 Commons. Grace enjoyed working with students to improve their stir fry skills. To help with the assisted stir fry, the station was adjusted slightly.
On Wednesday, September 26th, Dining Services celebrated the apple with our Apple Harvest Dinner in '53 Commons, and numerous apple-themed offerings at all dining
locations. Guests at '53 Commons were greeted with free samples of regional apples and apple cider from Walhowden Farm, Riverview Farm and Champlain Orchards. Gordon's apple bobbing competition was a huge success with prizes for the quickest competitors, all while live music was being played in the North Dining Hall.
