Employee hours and parking information

From Chief Human Resources Office Traci K. Nordberg:

"Wednesday's Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate will cause some disruptions to our usual routines. Parking will be significantly affected.

Media have already begun arriving in town. Thompson Lot will be closed on Wednesday for their use. On Wednesday, parking will be scarce on campus and in Hanover. We have made arrangements to use other locations for parking. If you hold a parking sticker in an affected area and an alternate parking location was assigned, you would have received a notice from the Parking Office.

There will be shuttle transfers back and forth to campus from the lots. You may also want to consider carpooling or other commuting options.

In some areas, managers may be able to encourage employees to leave at 3 pm so as to reduce traffic congestion. Employees who do leave will be paid for the time they would normally have worked, but if they are needed to remain at work, they will receive up to the two additional hours of personal time at some other time."

Parking specifics:

Staff that are located in buildings proximate to parking lots impacted by the debate were asked by personal letter to change their commuting practice for Wednesday and park in remote lots served by shuttle buses. Thompson parking permit holders were asked to park remotely for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The remote lots designated for the debate are off campus located south of town off route 120 in DHMC lot 9, at Sachem field off route 10 by the Campion Rink, and north of Town on route 10 at the Fullington Farm.

All others that did not get a letter, are not asked to park off campus and may park in the lots that are open to normal faculty and staff parking.

The parking lots that have been dedicated for the debate and are closed to faculty and staff are as follows: Clement, New Hampshire, Dartmouth Row, Davis Gym, Leverone, Thompson, Leede, and Ledyard. Al lots closed for the debate will reopen for faculty and staff Thursday morning.

For more information and updates on the debate, see the Democractic Presidential Candidates Debate web site.
