Editing an Existing Page

  • Select the Content tab.
  • Select the page to edit, then select Main Text Area.
  • Edit, click Save, then publish now when ready for the page to go live.

Add a New Page

You must be in full view to see the "new" button.

  • Select the Content tab.
  • Navigate to the folder where you want to create the new page.
  • Click the new button.
  • Select New Page. Please note that there are two New Page templates: One for a page without an image/caption and one for a page with an image/caption.

Add a New Section/Folder

You must be in full view to see the new button.

  • Select the Content tab.
  • Navigate to the folder where you want to create the sub folder.
  • Select the new button.
  • Select New Section/Folder. Enter the Name of Directory, Breadcrumb Text, Section Index Page Title, and keywords if you'd like.
  • Click the Create button.
To create additional pages in the folder, select one of the New Pagebuttons.

Link a Page

  • Select the Content tab.
  • Select the page to be edited, e.g., index.html.
  • Click the edit button.
  • Select Main Text Area.
  • Click and drag to highlight the text to be linked.
  • Click the Link icon.
  • Click the Browse icon.
  • Navigate to the file to be linked to or paste the URL in the Link URL field.
  • Click Insert.

Adding Images

All images must be uploaded to the /images/ folder at the top level of the website on the Production Server.

You can use OmniUpdate's built-in image editor to edit images that have already been uploaded in OU by clicking on the image. Or you can edit and upload new images by using the Image/upload function. Please note that you can only edit .jpg images with OmniUpdate's built-in image editor. You cannot edit .gif images; these must be edited with an external resource, then uploaded using the upload function.

You can also use Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, or an online resource like picnik.com to edit your images, then, use OmniUpdate's upload function to upload the images in OU. Please note that online resources are not supported by Dartmouth Computing Services.

  • Photos = .jpg
  • 256 color graphics = .gif
  • Size: 72 dpi (in Photoshop or ImageReady)
  • The maximum width for a landscape image: 450 pixels
  • The maximum width for a portrait image: 200 pixels

Special Folders for Documents, Jpgs, etc.

  • /docs/ or /pdfs/ folder at the top level of the website: For .doc, .pdf, .xls, .ppt, etc. documents
  • /images/ folder at the top level of the website: For .jpg, .gif images
