Dartmouth has three instructional centers that faculty can reserve for teaching hands-on classes:
Run jointly by Computing Services and the Library, the Starr Instructional Center is located in room 274 of Berry Library, which is within the Jones Media Center. It currently contains 20 Apple iMacs for student workstations and a Mac Pro tower for the instructor's workstation. All of these computers are running Mac OS X. Projection is available for the screen of the instructor's workstation. A cable for hooking a laptop into the projection system is also provided. Jones Media Center staff will provide access to this room to those who have reserved it.
A second Instructional Center is located in room 61 of Carson Hall. This center currently contains 20 Dell OptiPlex towers for students and an OptiPlex tower for the instructor's workstation. All of these computers are running Windows XP Professional. Projection is available for the screen of the instructor's workstation. A cable for hooking a laptop into the projection system is also provided. The key for this room is available at the Berry Circulation Desk and can be checked out by those who have reserved the room.
A third Instructional Center is located in room 101 of 37 Dewey Field Road. This center currently contains 18 Dell OptiPlex towers for students and an OptiPlex tower for the instructor's workstation. All of these computers are running Windows XP Professional. Projection is available for the screen of the instructor's workstation. A cable for hooking a laptop into the projection system is also provided. The key for this Instructional Center can be picked up in 37 Dewey Field Road, Room 3 and can be checked out by those who have reserved the room. Administrative departments that request an instructional center with Windows computers will be scheduled into this room first; they will be scheduled into Carson 61 only if this room is not available.
