Overall System Status:
Dartmouth is engaged in a project to modernize and enhance how we manage digital identities (usernames and passwords) at the College. The core of the IdM Project is an implementation of the Oracle Identity Management suite -- commercial software that will be used to manage these digital identities. This software will replace the custom-developed, in-house collection of software and processes that are currently used to manage digital identities (e.g. DND) at Dartmouth.
Virtually all members of the Dartmouth community have digital identities through their interactions with computing resources and applications. Our project has streamlined this process by requiring only one username and password, your NetID, for virtually all Dartmouth systems. You’ll no longer need to keep track of multiple usernames and passwords: you’ll use the same information to log in to e-mail, calendars, and most other systems at Dartmouth. Your NetID will become your login for authenticating to internal Dartmouth services. However, your e-mail address by which other people send you e-mail will not change.
We are carefully planning and phasing this project to make your interactions with Dartmouth systems as easy as possible, and we plan to keep you updated on developments.
