The Computing Services Computing Help Desk is the primary
contact point for computing assistance at Dartmouth College. The Computing Help
Desk can be reached by calling 646-2999 and selecting one of the options
provided, sending electronic mail to help@dartmouth.edu, or calling your department's
computing support office.
Support Groups at Dartmouth
The Student Computing Help Desk* provides computing support to undergraduate and graduate students. It is located in 172 Carson Hall. During the term, it is open Monday - Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. It is closed Saturday and Sunday. They can be reached by calling the Computing Help Desk at 646-2999 (Press 2).
Administrative Consulting Services* provides computing support to Administrative departments. They can be reached via e-mail at help@dartmouth.edu, or by calling the Computing Help Desk at 646-2999 and selecting the option for administrative departments.
Academic Consulting Services* provides computing support to Academic departments. They can be contacted via e-mail at academic.consulting.services@mac.dartmouth.edu or help@dartmouth.edu. Faculty and staff from these divisions may contact their division's computing staff directly at the locations listed below.
- Science Division Computing is located in 204 Fairchild and 240 Kemeny Hall. It supports the faculty and staff of the Arts and Science's Science Division. Faculty and staff members in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Studies can obtain support by e-mailing nicole.l.hamilton@dartmouth.edu or by calling 646-3144. - Social Science Computing is provided by staff located in 13A Silsby, 240 Kemeny Hall, and Room 444 in 37 Dewey Field Road. It supports the faculty and staff of the Arts and Science's Social Science Division. Faculty and staff in the departments of Anthropology, Economics, Government, History, and Sociology, as well as the African and African American Studies program, Latin American, the Latino and Caribbean Studies program, the Mathematics and Social Science program, the Native American Studies program, and the Rockefeller program can obtain support by e-mailing barbara.t.mellert@dartmouth.edu or by calling 646-2877. Humanities Resources provides support to the faculty and staff in the Humanities division, as well as the Asian and Middle-Eastern Studies program, the Comparative Literature program, the Jewish Studies program, the Linguistics and Cognitive Science program, and the Women's and Gender Studies program. Sales and Service, located in 171 Carson Hall, sells Macintosh and Dell
computers, software, computer supplies, and books. Whenever possible, they
negotiate educational discounts with their suppliers to provide favorable
pricing to the members of the Dartmouth community. If you are a full-time
student, faculty, or staff member, you can make purchases with your valid
Dartmouth I.D. card. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weekdays, and can

Sales and Service has a demonstration area located in 171 Carson Hall. They
offer pre-purchase advice on computers, peripherals (including printers), and
software. In addition, Computer Sales and Service has several different models
of Macintosh and Dell computers, printers, and software applications for you to
try. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weekdays. For more information,

If the appropriate support services group can't resolve the problem for you,
you may be referred to Computer Sales
and Service, located in 171 Carson Hall. It is an authorized repair center
for:
- Macintosh workstations and laptops.
- Dell OptiPlex and Dimension workstations and Latitude and Inspiron
laptops.
- Lenovo laptops.
- Xerox, HP, and Apple printers.
Computer Sales and Service is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
weekdays. It can be reached at 646-3249. You may be referred to an off-campus
facility if your hardware is not supported.

Public Computers on Campus

Computing Services provides and supports clusters of Macintosh, Dell, and
UNIX computers in Baker/Berry and Kresge Libraries, as well as in Silsby,
Rockefeller Center, Moore, Fairchild, Collis, Robinson, Thayer Dining Hall,
Alumni Gym, Hopkins Center, Dartmouth Hall, and Brace Commons. Additional
public computer clusters are provided and maintained by other departments and
are located around campus. Hours and access rules vary; for more information,

The public cluster on the ground level of Berry (Novack Study Rooms) is
open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It has Macintosh and Dell
computers.

Public Printers

Dartmouth provides public printers for students to print single copies of
documents. (If you need multiple copies, you can use the copy machines provided
in Berry and around campus.) You can print your documents to these printers by
submitting your job to the GreenPrint Release Stations queue (called
GreenPrint). The printers are located in the Berry, Kresge, and Feldberg
libraries, the Collis Center, and in the Brace, Fayerweather, Little, and
McLane dormitories. In Berry, the GreenPrint Release Stations are located on
the lower level on the West side. For more information, see GreenPrint.

Public Scanner Locations

There are scanners available for public use on the first (inside the Student
Computing Help Desk), third (outside of Elevator 1), and fourth (outside of
Elevator 1) floors of Berry Library. Information on how to use these
scanners can be found on the desktop of the computers attached to them.
Faculty may use the Faculty
Academic Computing Center that provides specialized hardware, software and
support for curricular projects. It is located in 178 Berry and is open from
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekdays. The center can be reached at 646-0888 or
646-1349.

the Humanities Division Computing Center (201 Bartlett) by
