Verify that the mirroring mode on your laptop display and your office display are identical. If you are not using your laptop with a monitor in your office, you can set this up in the SMART classroom during the break between classes.

  • From the Apple menu, select Control Panels.
  • Click the Monitors Control Panel.
  • Click the Arrange button.
  • Drag one monitor icon on top of the other.

Adjusting the Laptop's External Display Resolution

  • From the Apple menu, select Control Panels.
  • Select the Monitors Control Panel.
  • Click the Monitor button.
  • Select the 1024x768 setting.

Turning Off the Laptop's Power Management or Sleep Functions

  • From the Apple menu, select Control Panels
  • Select the Energy Saver Control Panel.
  • Click the Sleep Set Up tab.
  • Click the Show Details button.
  • For all the Power Adapter settings, set them to never or to a time after your class ends. (Remember to change the settings back to their defaults after your class ends.)

Turning Off BlitzMail Notify and Other Reminder Functions

  • From the Apple menu, select Control Panels.
  • Select the Notify Control Panel.
  • Slide the Off/On bar in the BlitzMail Notification field to Off.

Power down the laptop.

Pack the monitor adapter cable (iBooks and PowerBook G4s only; not required for Dells). This cable adapts the output of an Apple laptop to a standard 15-pin VGA type connector used in all SMART classrooms. You must bring this cable and your Apple laptop to use in the SMART classroom.

Pack the power supply.
