Watching Cable TV

On January 15, 2008, Dartmouth replaced its aging Cable TV infrastructure with television signals that are delivered over the data network (Ethernet). This system is referred to as DarTV. It allows members of the Dartmouth community to watch channels that traditionally had been delivered via cable to their television to watch them on their computer instead.

Your computer must be connected to the Dartmouth Ethernet network for this to work properly; DarTV will not work if your computer is connected to the wireless network.

For those people who want to continue watching TV on their television sets, a convertor box is available that will allow you to connect your television to the data network and receive the television channels. For information on the converter box, see Set Top Boxes.
