Windows Vista

Microsoft's newest operating system is called Windows Vista. Some applications have not yet been upgraded to work with this operating system.

Computing Services is posting information on the Web regarding applications commonly used at Dartmouth and whether they work with Windows Vista; see our Compatibility Matrix.

If you have a specific application(s) you rely on, one that must work on the computer on which you will be running Windows Vista, check the Web page noted above, or with the vendor of that application prior to upgrading to Windows Vista to ensure your application will function properly.

If your computer came with Windows Vista already installed and your application(s) will not work properly under Vista, contact the Computing Help Desk about installing Windows XP.

If you have questions about this, please contact the Computing Help Desk or your department's computing support office.
