Accessing Documentum from a Windows Computer

< Previous | Next >

  1. To log in to Documentum, go to https://documentum.dartmouth.edu/webtop/.
  2. Most current Web browsers will work, but if you get a message that states your Web browser is not supported, but you want to try it anyway, click OK, then continue with the directions below. If you want to try a different Web Browser, click OK, then close your current Web Browser.

Note: Your Web browser must be configured to allow pop-ups from oracle-www.dartmouth.edu.
  3. Use your full DND (BlitzMail) credentials to log into the Safeguard or FileStore repositories. In the Name field, enter your complete DND name (e.g., John A. Doe). Nicknames are not allowed.
  4. In the Password field, enter your DND password. Both the user name and password are case sensitive.
  5. In the Repository field, select the repository you want to connect to from the drop-down list.
    • The SafeGuard repository is where all files that contain confidential information must be stored. Files in this repository are encrypted when they are not open, access to them is via SSL, and they cannot be saved to the local desktop or laptop.
    • The FileStore repository is where all files that do not contain confidential information can be stored, and where files that will need to be downloaded from the server should be stored. Files in this repository are encrypted when they are not open, access to them is via SSL, but they can be saved to the local desktop or laptop if the user desires.

Note: We are currently compiling a list of the types of data that Dartmouth considers to be sensitive or confidential and which will be required to be stored on Documentum. Once complete, that list will be made available here.
  6. Do not place a check in the Remember my credentials field. This will allow others to log into the system as if they were you.
  7. Click Login. If you receive a warning about the application’s digital signature, click Always Trust
  8. When the Webtop window first opens, make sure the Classic tab is selected in the lower-right corner of the window. Your home cabinet should be displayed with files or folders in the right side of the window. This is the location where most, if not all, of your files will be placed. The left side of the window allows you to navigate to other cabinets to which you might have access.

If you want to have access to both the Safeguard and FileStore repositories from the same window, click the Add Repository link that appears at the bottom of the navigation column on the left side of the window. Log into the other repository following the directions above. Once logged in, click the name of the other repository that appears at the bottom of the list of items in the left side of the window. You will be prompted to enter your name and password again. In the Name field, enter your complete DND name (e.g., John A. Doe). Nicknames are not allowed. In the Password field, enter your DND password. Leave the Repository Domain field blank, then click Login.
