Installing Thunderbird on Macintosh Computers

< Previous | Next >

  • Go to the Thunderbird download page. Click on the Free Download link to download the latest version of Thunderbird to your computer. The Thunderbird program will be downloaded as a disk image file with .dmg at the end of the file name.
  • If it does not open automatically by StuffIt Expander, double-click the Thunderbird .dmg file, then accept the licensing statement when it appears.
  • A disk icon named Thunderbird will be mounted on your desktop and a window for the contents of the Thunderbird disk will automatically open.
  • From the Thunderbird disk window, drag the Thunderbird application icon into the Applications folder on your computer.
  • Once copied to the Applications folder, you can then close the Thunderbird disk image window and drag the Thunderbird disk icon to the Trash to unmount the image.
  • For instructions on configuring Thunderbird for the Macintosh, see Configuring Thunderbird for a Macintosh
