Many popular e-mail client programs use a standard called Post Office Protocol Version 3 (POP3) for exchanging information. Peter Kiewit Computing Services only provides full support for BlitzMail, our Dartmouth-authored e-mail client, and limited support for other e-mail clients, such as Eudora, MacMail, Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Thunderbird, etc., to read their Dartmouth e-mail. These Web pages provide you with the general information and settings you will need to configure POP3 e-mail clients to access your e-mail account on the Dartmouth e-mail servers. However, since each e-mail program differs in how it requests the information from the user, these are only general guidelines and do not apply specifically to any program.

BlitzMail has already been configured and requires no setup.

Note: Some e-mail clients can be configured to use POP3 or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) settings. For these clients, we recommend you use the IMAP settings because IMAP has more security features. For more information, see Using IMAP E-mail Client Programs at Dartmouth.
