Threats - Am I in Danger?

Thousands of attacks on our network and attached computers take place each day. At any given time, there are typically 20-30 machines on campus that are compromised. It takes less than a minute for a Windows computer to be attacked and compromised after being connected to the network if it is not behind a firewall, completely patched, or running antivirus software. This often happens even before the machine has even finished starting up. We all have to protect ourselves in this new environment. Fortunately, we have the tools to do this; see the Defenses - How Do I Protect Myself? Web site for more information.
