Virtual Private Network (VPN)

We have also implemented a VPN (Virtual Private Network) server. Using the VPN Client software allows users to communicate via a secure network connection.

VPN software is useful if you are using an unsecured wireless network, such as Dartmouth Library Public or Dartmouth Public, where the traffic between your computer and the wireless access point is not encrypted, or if you are off campus and are using an Internet Service Provider (ISP) other than Dartmouth (at a hotel or an airport, for example). See Connecting from Off Campus

When you have any doubt about the security of your connection, use the VPN.
