Sygate Security Agent can be downloaded from the Software Downloads page.
If you have a third-party firewall program installed on your computer, we recommend you disable or remove it after installing Sygate. If you have a computer running Windows XP, there is a built-in firewall that is part of the operating system. We recommend you turn off the Windows personal firewall from its Control Panel once you have installed Sygate.
There are seven different Sygate installers that are available from the Software Downloads site. Be sure to download and install the version pertinent to your College affiliation.
Once you have downloaded the appropriate installer, double-click on the installer folder. Double-click the Setup.exe file. You will be presented with a security window implicating Sygate as an unknown publisher; click Run, The archive will be expanded. Click OK to continue the installation. The Sygate Installation Wizard window will open. Click Next and review and accept the license agreement, then click Next again. Click Next twice more and the application will install. When it is complete, click Finish, then Yes to restart your computer. When your computer restarts, the Sygate icon should appear in your system tray (the section of the window usually found in the lower-right corner of the screen where the clock appears).Your computer is now protected by the Sygate firewall software.
Sygate enhances existing antivirus measures by adding intrusion protection to defend against threats to your computer's security. The central Sygate server prevents programs that are known to be damaging from running, and for added protection, you will be prompted concerning any unknown programs. Sygate gives you complete control over which programs are allowed to run on your computer. The central Sygate server is updated frequently to help protect against newly discovered threats.
