How Do I Change the Security Level of My Certificate Using Internet Explorer on Microsoft Windows?

When you download a certificate into Internet Explorer on Microsoft Windows, the Key and Certificate security is set to low by default. To change the security level, you must export, then re-import, the key and certificate. The import certificate wizard sets the security to "low" by default as well. To set the security level to medium or high (recommended), select the Enable strong private key protection option.
