Customizing Kerberos Settings

< Previous | Next >

Right-click on the Padlock icon in your system tray and select Options from the menu. There are several settings you can control:

  • Display login in a floating window.
  • Enable SideCar Authentication.
  • Multiple Realm Selection.
  • Keep System Clock Synchronized.
  • Ticket Lifetime.

On a single user computer, we recommend you leave these options at their default settings.

On a shared computer (like one in a lab or public cluster), we recommend you shorten the lifetime of the ticket. That way, if you forget to clear your ticket, it won't remain open for several hours.

We strongly recommend you check the Keep System Clock Synchronized option on any computer. If you don't, it can cause a ticket to stop working if the clock on the computer differs from the clock on the Kerberos server.
