The Northstar workstations are a multiuser environment where many people
have access to the computers. Which users have access to which files is
controlled by a system known as AFS.
Each user is given a certain amount of disk space to store their files.
Access to your personal space is controlled by you. In most cases, you will
want to keep all your files private; see Making All
Files Private.
There may be an occasion, however, when you want to be able to let
certain people look at some of your files, such as when you are working on a
project together. For information on how to do this, see Sharing Files With Certain People.
If you want everyone to be able to look at your files, see Sharing Files With Everyone
Using the AFS Permissions tool, it is easy to control who
has access to your files; see Understanding
File Permissions on UNIX.
