Third-party Licensed Software

Computing Services purchases software for academic use by Dartmouth users. In some cases, users or departments are asked to share in the cost. In all cases, the software must be used on computers in the Dartmouth domain by Dartmouth faculty, staff, and students primarily for academic purposes.

This software is restricted by the use of either node-locked licenses or by floating licenses (somewhat similar to the KeyServer for licensed Macintosh software), whereby license keys are checked out to legitimate Dartmouth users, whether on public machines or private workstations, until the maximum number of keys is reached.
