How Do I Get Started?

There are several ways to connect your computer to the Dartmouth network. You can use the wired Ethernet network by plugging into the wall jack in your office or dorm room; you can dial into the network if you are off campus; or you can connect via wireless networking. Wireless networking gives members of the Dartmouth community the freedom to maintain access to the campus network or the Internet without being tethered by wires. There are three steps required to make use of the wireless network at Dartmouth:

  1. Purchasing a wireless access card and installing it in your laptop computer; or insuring your computer already has a wireless card installed.
  2. Installing the software needed to make the wireless access card work.
  3. Configuring the software to access Dartmouth's wireless network. For additional information, see Configuring Your Windows Computer to Use the Dartmouth Secure Wireless Network or Other Dartmouth Wireless Networks.
