Getting Started

At Dartmouth, your personal computer is also capable of performing many tasks independent of the computer network at Dartmouth.

All machines come with some basic software, including the operating system software required to run the computer, and additional tools and utilities. For descriptions and additional tips about using the supplied system software and utilities, read the manuals or various electronic documents that came with your computer and online help files that came with the software. When you connect to Dartmouth's campus-wide computer network, you can use your personal computer to access

• Central systems, such as Blackboard and Banner
• Electronic mail services
• File servers
• Public printers and scanners
• Information resources (such as those provided by the Dartmouth College Library), and
• Other network facilities
